Most startups are made like live action films are made. Hollywood is a fragmented industry of individual experts. Everyone has an agent. There’s a spot market each and every time for each and every movie. If you need someone technical, you can outsource it to the special effects guys.
But in animation, tech is really the core of what works — the whole movie needs special effects! So the editor is a technical generalist who iterates on reels a thousand times before the film is produced. That is who I am and why I love hard tech. I get to storyboard fragile research ideas and turn them into polished theses.
My macro focus is on consumer areas that enable customized experiences, ambient interactions, and reliable relationships.
I studied Physics at Harvard, a place filled with sociopathic careerists, irreverent polymaths, prodigious wimps, elitist sovereigns, and first-order contrarians.
My contribution to these dysfunctions was dyslexia, led to Cs sometimes (!!) but ended with Highest Honors.
Then I ran a startup which, sadly, didn't work out ... but what I loved most was finding exceptional people — even ones I couldn't recruit, like Aman, who went on to co-found Cursor (now worth $29B).
